If you fall behind, run faster. Never give up, never surrender, and rise up against the odds.
Some dogs stress. Some are slow. Some don’t know enough. Some
don’t understand the game. Sometimes these dogs turn out to be the best; all it
takes is a whole lot of effort. You won’t
be able to do it alone; you’ll need fellow trainers, handlers, friends, and a
community of people to help these dogs find their way. It isn’t easy, but it is
worth every moment. The success is ten times sweeter, the little things matter
so much more, and it is simply an amazing thing to be part of.
There is so much beauty behind the journey, and I think some
people forget that. Looking back this past year, see how far Nikki has come, I
am not only astonished, but incredibly thankful. I can’t believe how far that
goofy girl has come in a year, and I cannot thank Elaine (her owner) or the
wide support group of friends and fellow classmate’s of Nikki who have helped
her understand how to play the game.
This experience, this journey that we are taking has only reminded me
once again that no dog is a lost cause but also that there is always a way. “Never say never” makes more sense to me now then it ever has before. Thank you Nikki.
