So many people I know tell me about how their dog is already as fast as they can be or as good as they will be for their entire lives. I simply agree, minding my own business and keeping my opinion for those who want to hear it. Honestly, I call bull shit. If your dog never improves, never gets fast, never accomplishes the goals you have set. Then guess what darling, it's your fault. Expecting a dog to be amazing just because of its breeding or looking at it and thinking it wont amount to anything because of its current state is simply unfair to the dog. They are not set in stone, much like their handlers they are going to learn new things that take them to the next level. Training is never over, and that goes for mental training and physical training. I always laugh when people tell me their 4 year old dog will never get faster. They can, they are capable of it you just have to put the hours into the dog to get the results you want.
Not everyone wants, the super fast, super competitive, super drive-y dog and I understand that completely and there is nothing wrong with wanting to do a sport you love with a dog you enjoy running. But complaining that you don't have the best when you don't put the hours into the dog, just sad. And we are all guilty, sometimes I look at Jenna and think "Gosh you're slow" then I remember how I've been sick the last week or something and she hasn't been getting the amount of exercise or training she needs to compete at the next level. So I suppose what I'm getting at is that nothing worth getting is easy to get. You also can't coast through life and accomplish everything you want just because people have told you that you have the ability to do so. In the end the truth is that what people call "talent" is really years of hard work in disguise.
In other news: OJAC Tryouts are here.
Wish I had time to go to England in February, but my girls will be stuck in the US till the summer :/
