Life is Sweet....

I’ve decided something. We as dog trainers are the luckiest people on the planet. I always feel like I have been blessed with wonderful dogs, and although they may not last forever. The time they give me is worth more than forever without them. Not to mention every time I train I feel like I’m walking through a candy shop.  So many things to train, moves to try, courses to run, it’s a never ending supply of the sweetest things in life. Even when you find a flavor you don’t like, you can just pick another…nothing is permanent. We can shape, re-shape, our dogs and handling style any way we like. People in other sports, are stuck with play books, re-doing the same route every single time. They follow their coach, instead of being depended on for all the plays. If agility and dog training has taught me one thing, its…well that’s just the thing, there isn’t one thing. No most important lesson, everything I’ve ever learned from my dogs, my fellow competitors, and my training has been worth every tear, bead of sweat, and every line of dog drool on my pants. I promised to myself and to my dogs a long time ago to enjoy every single second that I get to train, run, plan, or even think about agility. With all the commotion and frustrations of this winter, I felt it was time for a reminder.
