Finally it’s Friday! Only took 4 days, not too bad either.
Jenna got the week off, and I think she is ready to commit suicide. I was
training Whimzy outside today and Jenna was practically screaming; poor thing
is going insane without agility. Luckily for her we still don’t have snow, so
resuming training next week will be a breeze. Speaking of training, I know agility blog when
is training not mentioned? Anywhoo, training Whimzy these past few weeks has
been incredible. So beyond proud of that little girl, but I am afraid that she
has learned too much too fast. I am terrified to push for anything because of
all those horror stories I have heard in my years of dogs being shredded or
neurotic at 2 because no one gave them the time to grow up. I know I waited
long enough for the equipment, she went into season at 10 months and hasn’t grown
a hair since then, okay well she has grown a lot of hair!! But I just feel now
is the time to sit back and re-work some of the basic skills we will need for
novice, open, and hopefully excellent this spring. Instead of setting up full courses, that I
wish I could consciously have her do. Alas I feel the longer I work on
individual moves and her understanding of my body language the stronger she
will be when I get to run her on full courses. So for now Immy Wimmy is going
to be working serpentines, 180s, 270s, different turns, rears, fronts, maybe
some wraps, and pin wheels, which surprisingly enough are hard for her. We like
to run fast and miss jumps ;) but you won’t see me complaining anytime soon about
her extending through turns…although tightening them down a little would help!
