The Bright Side.

It's really easy to see the flaws with a run, and it's really easy to know where you faulted on any given run. But on any given run it isn't the big things that go wrong that matter, it's all the little things that go right that make even the ugliest of NQs some of the most important runs you'll ever have. Those little moments will always out weigh any fault I ever incur, because its one thing to Q in the ring, but to get back exactly what you've been training in the ring. Wow. What a fantastic feeling.

Granted, sometimes it is hard to pull the good out of runs. But there is always something, you just have to find it. Just pick out 3 small, maybe what seem to be insignificant successes out of each run. Those three little things, help a lot. They remind you that no matter how bad it was, shit could have been a lot worse. That while you might not have Q'd or gotten exactly what you wanted, you still got something, anything out of the run. And its those little somethings that overtime evolve into real improvement.

And if your really feeling sad, just smile and remember that somewhere in this world there's an idiot pulling a door that says "PUSH".

  1. lol. what if you are the idiot that pulled the door with a push sign and the NQ run? [like me]. For all you know, your "bad luck" could save you from the worse luck that could've happened! And that "bad luck" is always a good story later on! Like my push door incident in front of 4 high school and middle school volleyball teams. Embarrassing, but now it's hilarious to me!

My first trial, I had to restart because someone forgot to set a bar. Then we missed the weaves, had a table fault, missed the dog walk twice and refused a tire jump. All in one run. And we had the slowest time in the entire Novice class, totally about 91 seconds. But I was so happy she did a good teeter! That was one thing I was so worried about. It's not a funny story now [since it was 2 months ago] but I'm sure it will be in the next year or two.
